Like manna from heaven

By Jay - Posted on 10 August 2010

One morning the kids and I were hanging around outside the EcoRoamer on 26th street in Vancouver. As is often our routine in Vancouver we were thoroughly "loitering" perhaps even stalking, waiting for Hawker's Delight to open at 11. (we have concluded that it is the ONLY place in the Western Hemisphere where one can get Mee Siam for breakfast...) Anyhow... There we were playing on the sidewalk like a family of deprived & depraved Singaporeans when these two incredibly friendly bakers -yes bakers- walk up to the kids and hand them free, fresh loaves of artisan baguettes and Roasted Pumpkin Seed Sourdough Loaf. Then, with a smile and a pat on the kids' heads, they were gone... So, as we now sit here on our back deck in Sitka, Alaska - enjoying a latte and some fresh Sourdough Loaf, I wanted to thank the kind guys at "Pane e Formaggio" in Vancouver. If you ever have the chance please send some of your business their way at: Pane e Formaggio Bakery 1529 E. Pender St. Vancouver, BC, V5L 1V9 http://www.pane-e-formaggio.com In the mean time they definitely have earned a Karmic IOU from me...
